Assalamu Alaikum,
My name is Safwan Joya, and I am honored to serve as a Board Member of the Islamic Center, representing the voice of our youth. I have been attending the Scranton Mosque since it first opened, from childhood to the present day.
I am currently a pharmacy major at Wilkes University. I bring energy, dedication, and a sincere commitment to serving our community with integrity and purpose. I strongly believe that our youth are the foundation of our future, and I look forward to working collaboratively to strengthen engagement, unity, and growth within our Islamic Center, In shaa’ Allah.
My name is Haris Imran, and I am from Dunmore, Pennsylvania. I was raised with strong Islamic values, and my parents instilled in me the importance of faith, service, and community—principles that continue to guide me today.
I am currently a P4 Doctor of Pharmacy student at Wilkes University, with an expected graduation in May 2026. Throughout pharmacy school, I have been actively involved in multiple student organizations and have held leadership roles that strengthened my skills in teamwork, communication, and community engagement.
I am seeking this board position because I genuinely want to give back to the Muslim community of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As a young, approachable, and socially engaged individual preparing to enter the professional world, I hope to contribute fresh ideas while honoring our values and traditions. My goal is to help support, strengthen, and grow our community.
